About Avizit Biswas

My path

I trained as a civil engineer at North Western University in Khulna, Bangladesh (B.Sc., 2019–2023), where environmental and water resources engineering became my focus. My undergraduate thesis assessed surface water quality in the Dharatana River, Bagerhat, using the Water Quality Index.

Research on rivers and urban water in Khulna followed: water quality and mass balance of the Bhairab River, river water-quality parameters in Khulna City, domestic wastewater quality, and construction and demolition waste management — six peer-reviewed publications in total, with a further study on coagulation-flocculation treatment of contaminated surface water under review.

Since September 2024 I have been studying for an M.Sc. in Integrated Water Resources Management at TH Köln. My work there combines hydrology, water quality monitoring, environmental impact assessment and GIS-based spatial analysis — and increasingly drone imagery and machine learning for river hydromorphology mapping, first on the Erft River and now in an independent project on automated instream-wood inventories.

Alongside my studies I worked for six years as a freelance SEO and content specialist, delivering more than 130 projects for international clients. It taught me to explain technical subjects clearly, to work to deadlines with remote teams, and to measure results — skills I now use to communicate water and environmental research.
